Shiva

Starting on Tuesday June 27th through Saturday July 1st we will be sitting Shiva for Liz:
Where: 1700 E 56th St.
Apt 1901
When: Starting at 8am in the morning until whenever

Note that Hadas will have slightly modified hours. If you are looking to visit with Hadas specifically she may not be available on Thursday from 8am-2pm or Friday from 1pm-6pm.

What is Shiva?
Shiva is a Jewish practice of mourning. Shiva typically takes place in the home of an immediate family member. The home is opened up to family, friends, and the community to come visit, pay respects, and support each other in grief. Specific practices vary by family. Often it is customary to bring food and such but don’t feel obligated. We only have one fridge. Please know that in honor of Liz’s warmth and hospitable spirit, you are welcome to come as you are – you can bring stories, jokes and laughter into the home. You can cry as much as you want. You can have nothing to say at all. All is accepted. No need to schedule or arrange. Just show up if you want and can and no expectations on how long you stay.

Celebration of Life Service

We will be hosting a service akin to a Celebration of Life on Thursday July 6th.
Where: 1700 E 56th St. Top Floor Party Room.
When: Thursday July 6th 3:30pm to 9 pm (End time is a guesstimate. Not a hard cut-off. Never done this before.) No need to bring anything. This will be opportunity to gather, remember and celebrate Liz’s life. Bring some stories, poems or anything else that feels right for you. Beverages and light bites will be available. She always deeply enjoyed providing space for all types of people from all different parts of her life (and the world) to meet, connect, and have a good time. We intend to honor that.
